All of us have noticed the price of petrol rising along with the monthly shopping bill going up on average by £15 -£20, utility providers hiking their prices and the general cost of living costing that little extra. This added to the fact that not many of us have much if any at all spare income it’s no great shock that an increasing number of people are getting into debt.

The extra spend here and little more there is making a significant dent in our funds, or lack of them. So how can people supplement their income without having to put in too much time and effort?

There are various ways in which you can bring in a little more money without having to give up too much of your precious time.

Car boot sales are a great way to clear out your unwanted goods. Though it can take a little time to go through all your bits and bobs, it can be well worth it. With only a small overhead of around £5 to pitch your stall for the day it won’t take you long to break even. You may even find it enjoyable, get the whole family involved. The kids may not be too fond of the early start but once they realise what they can get for their old toys I’m sure they will become more positive. You never know, you may even be able to bag yourself the odd bargain. Remember one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure.

Rent out a room, if you are fortunate enough to have a spare room simply collecting dust why not use it to your advantage. The average asking price per month (depending on size and area) is around £289, that’s £3,468 a year. Not to be sniffed at I’m sure you will agree.

Hire out your parking space. If you live close to a commuter route or city centre it may be possible for you to rent out your parking space or part of your drive. On average you can earn around £20 a week depending on location.

Recycle your wardrobe. Sites such as eBay and fashion exchange are great for getting rid of clothes that you no longer want or wear.

Use cash back websites. Whether you are shopping or signing up for insurance or banking products there is a way to earn some serious money. Apparently you can earn up to £1000 a year by using internet cashback websites.

These are just a few of the things you can do to help with debt problems but if you really want to beat the credit crunch I would go on line to see what debt management is available. Most sites will offer a number of debt solutions and can even offer an “ask the expert” section for a more personal touch.
